Deepening Care Through Connection and Practice
In addition to consulting and training, Rooted in Care offers hands-on, community-based options that bring learning to life. These sessions create space for real-time practice, curiosity, and connection, whether you are someone living with brain change, a family care partner, community leader, or professional seeking to strengthen your team’s skills.
For Families
Engagement Sessions
45–60 minutes | $95 | In-person
Grounded in my experience as a speech-language pathologist and guided by PAC™ principles, Engagement Sessions offer flexible, relationship-focused support. These are not therapy sessions and are not billed to insurance. Instead, they provide individualized opportunities for engagement, understanding, and skill-building that adapt to each person’s needs and stage of brain change.
An Engagement Session may include conversation, shared activity, gentle movement, or sensory exploration. In the earlier stages, sessions might focus on problem-solving through functional skills such as calendar or appointment management, organization, or daily routines that help maintain confidence and independence.
Family members may choose to participate, observe, or allow their loved one to enjoy meaningful time supported through skilled interaction and connection. Each session flows naturally based on what is most helpful in the moment.
Ideal for: Individuals or families seeking flexible, meaningful engagement that supports connection, confidence, and wellbeing.
All sessions are grounded in my background as a speech-language pathologist as well as Teepa Snow’s Positive Approach to Care®, including:
•GEMS®
• Hand-under-Hand®
• Positive Physical Approach™
Caring Cafe
Custom session | Primarily in-person, with virtual options for out-of-town participants
The Caring Café is a small-group learning experience designed specifically for the family and friends supporting one person living with brain change. It typically takes place in the person’s home or familiar community space, such as a church or gathering room.
These sessions combine conversation, education, and hands-on learning in a relaxed setting. Together, we explore how brain change affects communication, behavior, and daily life, and practice simple, practical skills that make a difference.
The goal is to help everyone involved in the person’s care and life gain shared understanding and confidence, creating consistency and comfort across the circle of support.
Ideal for: Families and friends seeking to learn together and build skill in supporting a specific individual living with brain change.

For Professionals and Community Partners
Community Skills Learning
Custom format | Rates vary by group size and setting
Bring PAC™ skill-building directly into your community or care environment. These sessions are interactive, experiential, and tailored to your team.
Participants learn and practice Positive Physical Approach™ and Hand-under-Hand® techniques in real-life scenarios while also exploring the GEMS® model. Together, we look not only at the GEMS® states of those living with brain change but also at our own. Care partners discover how their personal GEMS® state can shift with stress, fatigue, illness, or environmental factors, and how self-awareness supports more effective and compassionate care.
Each session strengthens teamwork, confidence, and the ability to provide care that honors the person first.
Ideal for: Care teams, community programs, and organizations seeking practical, skills-based learning that supports both those receiving and providing care.
