About Rooted in Care
At the heart of my work is a deep commitment to connection, compassion, and dignity for everyone involved. Whether you’re living with brain changes or dementia, caring for a loved one, or working as a professional care partner, your journey is uniquely challenging and you shouldn’t have to face it alone.
I founded Rooted in Care Consulting to be a trusted partner on that journey. My goal is to offer meaningful, skilled support at every step, helping you navigate care with confidence, understanding, and hope.
My Mission
Hi there! I’m Colleen
Certified Speech-Language Pathologist, Certified Dementia Practitioner, PAC™ Certified Independent Advanced Consultant & Trainer and founder of Rooted in Care Consulting.
Care is at the center of everything I do.
With over 20 years of experience as a speech-language pathologist, I began my career working with children and individuals in the disability space. This shaped my deep commitment to communication, connection, and respect for each person’s unique journey.
Today, my focus and passion lie in changing the culture of dementia care.
Why I Started Rooted in Care
I created this consulting and training practice with one clear purpose: to support individuals living with dementia, families, and professionals navigating the complex realities of brain change. I believe that care that centers on relationship and is rooted in skill, dignity, compassion, and connection can transform even the most difficult moments.
Whether you’re living with brain changes, supporting a loved one, or working on the front lines of care, you deserve skilled guidance and a trusted partner who truly understands the emotional and practical challenges of this journey. My work is about partnering with you, respecting your experience, strengths, challenges, and unique needs.
Philosophy
Dementia changes how the brain processes the world, but it does not erase personhood, value, or the need for connection. By understanding behavior as communication and approaching care with curiosity, we can reduce distress and strengthen relationships.
Current Offerings
I currently offer virtual consultations, small group education for care partners, and professional trainings by inquiry
