Coaching & Ongoing Support for Professionals & Care Teams
Understanding dementia is an important first step. Applying that understanding in the moment, during real interactions, is where it often becomes more challenging.
Many teams leave training with new insight, but find that when situations arise, it can still feel difficult to know what to do, how to respond, or how to stay consistent across staff.
Coaching and ongoing support provide a space to bridge that gap.
This work focuses on real-life interactions, supporting teams as they begin to apply new understanding in the context of their specific environment, residents, and daily routines.
It is not about evaluating staff or correcting mistakes. Instead, it is a collaborative process that supports observation, reflection, and shared understanding across a team.
Ongoing support may include:
Observation of care interactions (when appropriate)
In-the-moment or follow-up coaching with staff
Guided reflection on what is working and what feels challenging
Support in building more consistent approaches across team members
Reinforcement of communication and interaction strategies over time
This type of support may be helpful when:
Teams have completed training but want support applying it in real situations
Staff responses vary widely from person to person
Certain residents or situations continue to feel challenging
Leadership is looking to strengthen consistency and confidence across the team
There is a desire to move toward more relationship-centered care over time
Over time, this work helps teams feel more confident, more consistent, and more grounded in their approach, leading to reduced distress, stronger relationships, and more effective care.
Support may be offered in-person or virtually, depending on the needs of the team. When virtual support is used, it may include review of recorded interactions (when appropriate and permitted) to support observation, reflection, and guided discussion.
